Phoebe has a heart attack before getting fired for losing too much money to her company. Ross tries to save his marriage but discovers his wife's homosexuality, when they attempt a three-way relationship with Susan (Ross, contrary to what he had hoped, is only a spectator). She later learns that her husband is cheating on her (with Mindy). Rachel is a fan of Joey and misses having a relationship with him despite being married. The latter is forced to become Joey's assistant to survive. We learn that Monica, still a virgin, ends up having a relationship with Chandler. Ross is drawn to Rachel's sister, Jill, but gives up a relationship with her so as not to destroy the possibility of a new affair with Rachel forever. Thanks to Rachel's pressure on Gunther, Joey works as a waiter at Central Perk. They finally have an affair that ends when Joey realizes that Janine doesn't like Monica and Chandler. However, she doesn't seem to feel any attraction for him. She is a very sexy dancer and he falls in love with her. The latter has trouble paying the bills and takes a roommate: Janine. Chandler moves in with Monica and therefore leaves Joey alone in his apartment. Rachel therefore leaves Monica's apartment for Phoebe's. Before the judge for the annulment of the marriage, she accuses Ross of all the evils but the judge is not fooled: he refuses to annul the marriage, Ross and Rachel must divorce. Rachel was supposed to come live with Ross but when she learns of the lie he told her, she changes her mind and decides to move in with Phoebe. Ross has to call off his marriage to Rachel, only he doesn't and lies to Rachel.
